Give Thanks

Well I am a little late writing this post, but like they say, “better late than never.” I cannot believe Thanksgiving has come and gone! It seems like I was just writing “Happy New Year”.  This year has flown by and no, it hasn’t gone exactly as planned. I am thrilled with my life right now though.  I have an awesome son that has started school and loves it. I have a barn full of nice horses and a waiting list for more to come. There are very few things in my life that I would like to change. I know most people do the things I am thankful for posts during November. Thinking back, I wish I would have done one each week with the things I am thankful for, but I was slack and didn’t so I am going to put them all  into this post. Here goes a few of the things I am thankful for this holiday season.

  1. I am thankful for my amazing son. Jacob has changed my life in so many ways, but my favorite thing is being a mom. He is such a blessing to me.
  2. I am thankful for Jacob’s teachers and his school. He loves going to school and he loves to learn; that is so important. A great kindergarten teacher can set a child up for a lifetime of learning and success. I remember my brother crying before school every day because he did not want to go because he hated his teacher. Jacob’s school is also very active in the community. I am so thankful that Jacob has great teachers at a great school.
  3. I am thankful for my clients. I have a great group of clients. I love giving lessons and watching my students and their horses grow and become successful. There is nothing more exciting than seeing a horse that came to you and couldn’t lope a circle go on to have a career. One of the things I love and enjoy the most is seeing my students being successful. I have one student that has less than a year worth of barrel racing experience that qualified for her first world finals this year. She is so excited and I am thrilled for her. Earlier this month, I took two of my students to their very first show. They both won ribbons and we have a ton of things to work on over the winter so they can be ready to start back up when February rolls around.
  4. I am thankful for my home. I love my house. It fits my family perfectly. Most people would say it is too small or too old, but I think it is perfect. It was my grandmother’s house so that just makes it even more special.
  5. I am thankful for my family. My mom, dad, and brother support and help me in everything I do and that means the world to me. All the success in the world is no fun if you have no one to share it with. My family is always there for me through the ups and the downs and the good and the bad. They live and hour from me, but if I need somebody to run pick Jacob up from school if I have something I need to do nobody complains and it gets done. The other day, I had to go get a load of hay and after teaching all day my younger brother went with me to get a load of hay. I have an amazing family and I am so so very thankful for them and all they do for us.
  6. I am thankful for my job. There are so many people that get up each morning and dread going to work. I love going to work. I am so lucky to be able to have a job that I love. Earlier this year I was terrified that I wouldn’t be able to make it just riding horses and giving lessons. It has been a ton of hard work, but I am making it and now I am getting ready to make a few new additions to the business.
  7. I am thankful for my sponsors. Purrty Purrfect Polos keeps my horses’ legs protected and looking cute at the barrel races and during practices. Ballentine Hay Company provides me with great quality hay to keep my horses looking and feeling good. K&I Transport helps me out with trailers to haul my hay and tractors.

I saw a post on snapchat today (be sure to follow me brittlamb10) that made me feel like I needed to write this post as a constant reminder of the things I am thankful for.  What are some of the things you are thankful for?
